A familiar building, a new name
The university changes the names of departments more often than it changes the lettering above an entrance. A visitor can follow a current directory into a corridor whose signs describe an earlier arrangement. Someone at the end of the hall knows where the office moved, but first asks which version of the office the visitor needs.
The hours between terms
When teaching rooms are empty, other work becomes visible. A cart of discarded chairs waits beside a lecture theatre. Someone sorts journals on the floor because the tables have been moved. The Quad does not stop outside the academic calendar. It becomes a different institution, concerned with keeping its rooms ready for the next occupation.
The things a library retains
A returned volume may contain a scrap that was never meant to be archived: a room number, a shopping list, a sentence copied without its source. The archive fiction treats those fragments as evidence of reading rather than evidence of a crime. The building holds traces of attention as well as shelves of knowledge.
From the fictional county archive
The seminar has moved upstairs. Please amend the paper notices as well as the directory; the old room is still being opened.

Places in The Quad
Original world fiction published by Somatry. These location stories expand the setting for readers; they are not case evidence, walkthroughs or a list of confirmed playable DLC missions.
