A route without departures
The line is easiest to follow where a fence interrupts an otherwise ordinary street. Beyond it are weeds, drainage channels and the flat geometry of a platform. The route signs describe a complete system, confident arrows pointing toward destinations that no longer receive a train. Nothing on a printed diagram knows that it has become a historical document.
Keeping the shortcut
Residents continue to use station names as directions. Someone can live 'behind the stop' without ever having boarded there. A former approach becomes a place to leave a bicycle, and a covered entrance remains useful during rain. The district's public purpose has contracted into a collection of unofficial conveniences.
An amended timetable
In the archive fiction, a timetable carries successive corrections in different inks. The final alteration is a plain notice covering the whole sheet. Beneath it, the earlier crossings-out remain legible around the edges. The story is one of decisions made gradually, while the familiar printed layout continued to imply that everything was still running.

Remove the loose glass. Leave the route board in place until the wall behind it has been inspected.
