Bureau opening brief
Beckwith, Averil. 32. Staff scientist and notebook steward, the Castellan Lab, room 508, Sallow Hall, University of Coldmere, three years. Found at 7:40 on a Friday morning, two years ago, on the floor by her bench, by the lab manager, opening up. The lab's second death in six years. Dr. Bell: homicide; asphyxia, no other injury. Window 9:30 PM Thursday to 1:00 AM Friday. Fog. The Coldmere police charged nobody and filed it open: her phone went to property locked, and nobody could be placed at her bench or kept from it. Her notebook went back to the notebook office under its rules, and on to the university archive. This year the research integrity office asked the archive for the Castellan Lab's notebooks, and hers came with them. Our lab has opened her phone. Her book stands. Three names. -V
