The climb above the roofs
The lane rises past the last houses before turning toward the light. Its walls are low where a view is useful and high where shelter matters more. From below, the service buildings seem to belong to the lighthouse. From the lane, they look like a small neighborhood whose work happens to be visible far out on the water.
Deliveries in bad weather
Supplies arrive in containers chosen for the climb as much as for their contents. A box that is manageable at the harbor becomes awkward on the steps. In the district's fiction, the delivery book includes informal advice beside the inventory: bring two people, tie the lid, use the lower door when the wind changes.
The private record of a public light
People across the bay can see whether the light returns, but few see the notes that keep the service buildings working. Broken hinges and leaking windows rarely enter the town's grander account of itself. Lantern Head gives those modest records a setting, following the labor behind a landmark rather than inventing a case around it.

The upper door catches the wind. Bring the glass through the lower store and leave the packing on until it is inside.
