Bureau opening brief
Sotiriou, Ettore. 73. Owner of the Limewash, on the front at Marina Sol, for thirty-eight years. Found dead on the stern deck of his yacht, the Paola, at his own jetty in the cove below his house on the bluff, late on a Saturday night in October, seven years ago. His skipper called it in to the harbor office at 11:44 PM. Dr. Celia Marchetti, Palewater's medical examiner: a diving injury, death soon after surfacing; he did not drown. Window 8:00 PM to midnight. The Palewater police took the skipper's statement and the yacht's log, found nothing against either, and closed it as an accident. His phone went to property locked. The lab has opened it. This year Palewater records asked the weather office for its book for that evening, the harbor office for its papers on the Paola, his lawyers for his papers, and four people where they were that evening. The weather office's book stands. Four names. -V
