Found at 7:40 on a Friday morning, four years ago, by the day porter, in her office on the fourth floor. The Ashport coroner's office: a single sharp-force injury, death within minutes. Window 10:00 PM Thursday to 2:00 AM Friday. The side door was found unlocked and nothing was taken. The team worked it as an intruder, charged nobody and filed it open. Her phone went to property locked. The lab has opened it. This year Ashport records asked the courthouse at the top of Wick Street for its night list for that Thursday. Nobody had asked for it before. The clerk's list stands. Three names. -V
