Bureau opening brief
Tierney, Bronagh. 44. Night checker, freight shed 2, the Northline, Brannock Yards, Ashport, sixteen years at the sheds. Found at 12:40 on a Saturday morning, nearly nine years ago, on the shed road at the north end of shed 2, by the night yard foreman and a detective sergeant who was in the yards that night on other business. The Ashport coroner's office: a single sharp-force injury; death within minutes. Window 10:30 PM Friday to 1:30 AM Saturday. Rain all night. Nothing taken from her, and no object found. The team took statements and alibis, charged nobody and held the file open. Her phone went to her sister, locked. The sergeant went to records that spring. He was Tomasz Rook, and he asked for this one himself. New in this file: his notebook from that night, out of the officers' notebook store. This year Ashport records asked the Northline for its car office's papers on that night and its letters on the sheds, and her sister for her phone. The lab has opened it. The Northline's papers stand. Four names. -V
