Bureau opening brief
Thursby, Gunnar. 80. Retired ship's navigator; No. 8, Candle Lane, on the Sconce Hill estate, Palewater, for fifteen years, and the man who started its neighborhood watch. Found at five past seven on a Thursday morning in December, four years ago, on the lounger in his front yard, by the gatehouse keeper putting out the lanterns. Dr. Marchetti: hypothermia, no injury. Window 4:00 to 6:30 AM. It was 38 F at dawn. The Palewater police read the watch's book for that night, ruled misadventure and closed the file. His phone went to property locked. The lab has opened it. This year Palewater records asked the residents' association for the committee's letters of that week, and three people where they were. His phone stands. Three names. -V
