Bureau opening brief
Larrea, Nieves. 66. Widow of the salt works' pan keeper; cottage 6, at the far end of the works road on the Flats. Reported missing at the end of May by the owner of the Glasswort, the store at the head of the works road. Found on a Thursday morning in October, six years ago, in pan 7 of the salt works, by the harvest crew lifting the crust. Dr. Celia Marchetti, Palewater's medical examiner: struck by a vehicle, death within minutes; dead not less than four months and not more than six when found. The Palewater police worked the ten nights after she was last seen, could place nobody on the works road on any of them, and filed it with no driver found. Her phone went to property locked. The lab has opened it. This year Palewater records asked Dr. Marchetti's office for its own copy of her findings, the body shop on the coast road for its book, the salt works' owners for their file on the cottages, and four people where they were on each of those ten nights. Her office's copy stands. Four names. -V
