Tithe Glasshouse

Tithe Glasshouse is an invented growing house within Sablemoor's former estate gardens. Its repaired panes alter the light across the benches, creating small differences that a planting plan cannot show.

The pane from another building

One replacement is thicker and faintly tinted. Beneath it, the bench receives a different quality of light from the neighboring row. Gardeners move sensitive plants accordingly, recording the arrangement through labels rather than by redrawing the whole plan. A repair intended to restore the room has quietly changed how the room is used.

The watering instruction

A card tied to a pot says to give less water than the others. The wording assumes that the pot will remain among a familiar group. When it is moved to a new bench, the comparison becomes unclear. The story follows the gardener who replaces the instruction with one that can travel with the plant.

Closing the vents

At the end of a working day, a checklist is followed from door to far wall. A vent hidden behind climbing growth requires a separate reminder. The glasshouse's order is not the absence of exceptions but the careful preservation of them, each note attached where a person might otherwise trust the general routine.

From the fictional county archive

This instruction replaces the earlier comparison with the adjoining row. The plant has moved; its needs have not.
