Bureau opening brief
Laskowski, Leif. 46. Diver for the Ashport Port Authority at the Stacks, nineteen years. Found dead on the quay at berth 2 by the ambulance crew at 10:12 on a Tuesday morning in March, nearly six years ago, minutes after crane 4 lifted the diving tender out with him aboard. The Ashport coroner's office: a diving injury, death soon after surfacing; he did not drown. It rained all morning. The team took the statements, asked three people where they were, and closed it as an accident. The ship he had been diving sailed the next morning, and her master's written statement, in his own language, was never put into English. His phone went to property locked. The lab has opened it. This year Ashport records had the statement put into English, and asked the Port Authority for crane 4's papers and the electrical shop's job cards. Crane 4's weigher stands. Three names. -V
