Found at 10:40 on a Tuesday morning, nearly four years ago, in the hall of his flat in Quill Court, by the building's caretaker and the office's usher, sent over when he missed the ten o'clock wedding. Dr. Bell: a single blunt injury to the head, death within minutes. Window 9:00 PM Monday to 1:00 AM Tuesday. Fog all night. The team took statements and alibis, charged nobody and filed it open. They asked his savings society in Ashport for his last letter and were sent a copy. His phone went to his sister, locked. The lab has opened it. New in this file: the phone, the society's own file on his account, and answers to our letters this year.
