Twine Workshop

The Twine Workshop is an invented room in Netmakers' Steps. Finished repairs hang beside work waiting to begin, separated by a system of hooks whose meaning is obvious only to the people using them.

The hook nearest the door

The front hook is reserved for collections, except when a large repair temporarily occupies it. A small handwritten sign explains the exception. Customers who know the routine may overlook the sign because they are accustomed to recognizing their bundle by its position. Familiarity is useful until the arrangement changes.

A note inside the knot

Repair instructions are tied into the work so they will not be separated from it. The method protects the note from being misplaced on a table, but makes it awkward to read once the bundle is tightened. The craft and the paperwork require the same patient act of loosening, examining and fastening again.

Returning what was not requested

A customer receives a repaired net with an old cloth tucked into the bundle. It was used as packing and carries a faded mark from a previous owner. The archive story follows the decision to keep rather than discard it, giving an unremarkable scrap a second life without claiming that it contains a hidden revelation.

Keep the customer's knot on the end line. Replace only the damaged section; the knot identifies which side fits the frame.
