The notebook's place
The book is stored in a lidded box beneath the pavilion bench. It is protected from ordinary rain but not from the condensation that appears after a cold night. The first person to open it often leaves the pages spread while making tea, allowing the paper to dry before adding another entry.
A correction beside the line
A resident writes that a van stopped at a particular house. Later, someone adds that the driver was delivering to the house behind it. Both observations were reasonable from different viewpoints. The county story keeps the correction visible, allowing the notebook to show how an account improved rather than pretending it was complete from the start.
The unwritten routine
Regular visitors gradually disappear from the notes because their presence no longer feels worth recording. The pavilion's archive becomes more detailed about exceptions than about daily life. A reader looking back must understand that imbalance. The notebook describes attention, not an uninterrupted view of everything that passed the gates.
From the fictional county archive
Add corrections beside the original entry and sign them. Do not erase another resident's observation.
