A skyline close to home
The headframe appears between washing lines and chimney pots. For a visitor it defines the town; for residents it may be the thing blocking part of the evening sky. The district's stories bring the industrial landmark down to household scale, letting a large structure share space with ordinary rooms, errands and arguments about a leaking roof.
The building with another job
A former service room now stores furniture awaiting repair. Its wall hooks and numbered positions remain because removing them would serve no purpose. The room carries a clear trace of its earlier arrangement while performing a different task. New users adapt around the fixtures instead of treating every old feature as a monument.
A name that survives employment
Homes are still described through the jobs of people who lived there before. A delivery note can refer to 'the fitter's house' even though its present resident has no connection to that work. Headframe Terrace preserves the town's industrial memory through useful but aging shorthand, which must occasionally be translated for someone arriving from elsewhere.
From the fictional county archive
The address called the fitter's house is now the corner residence. Use the painted number; the old description remains on some account books.
